Hand forged "black" seasoned steel HEAVY DUTY burger/steak press.

Size : 16 cm Long x 12 cm Wide x 12 cm High

A solid steel plate, 12mm thick, with a sturdy forged and riveted handle. Perfect for 'smash' burgers, searing steak or charring veg. The plate is thick and heavy enough that it can be heated and hold the heat in order to provide a non-stick press which will sear your steaks and burgers from the top side as you press!

'Black' steel is created when the steel is heated to over 850 degrees and a dark oxide forms on the surface. This oxide is then lightly polished and oiled but not removed, leaving a dark grey patina. The surface has then been further seasoned with vegetable oil to provide a non-stick surface.

"Smash" Burger recipe:

Smash Burgers are a great way to get tasty, chargrilled burgers without losing all the meaty juices and over-cooking your burgers.

Mix your burger meat to your preferred recipe, or ask the butcher to mix 50% minced brisket with 50% lean mince.

Form small balls, slightly larger than a golf ball. Place this on your BBQ Grill Plate (also available from Kerr Forge!) and cook until the bottom of the ball is starting to char.

Press the burger down firmly with the BBQ Grill Press to spread the ball into a burger patty.

Once the burger is firm, flip once and continue cooking on the other side to your preference.
