Forge Your Own Hammer Experience

Course price: £240 per hammer.

Duration: 8hrs, one day.

For bookings of 2 people to make 2 hammers (or combination of knife and hammer), you will receive a £60 discount at checkout (equivalent to £320 per axe).

For bookings of 3 people to make 3 hammers (or combination of knives and hammers), you will receive a £90 discount at checkout (equivalent to £320 per axe).

Totally customisable experience. You can make any style of hammer you like.

This experience is perfect for anyone who would like to try their hand at Blacksmithing. You will learn the traditional techniques passed down through the ages for forging hammers and many other striking tools, including forging, grinding, and heat treating to produce a hammer that will last many lifetimes. You will finish the day by fitting a handle to your hammer so you take home a fully finished and useable hammer.

This one-day course is for one or two people to forge a single hammer. If you'd like to attend as a pair and forge a hammer each, two tickets will be required.

There is enough time to forge a hammer with a maximum weight of 3lb. A cross pein hammer or claw hammer is recommended and are usually the most useful options for most people. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring with you ideas for the style of axe you'd like to make, including:

Bricklayers Hammer
Joiner's Hammer
Lump Hammer
Viking style hammer
Rounding Hammer or Farriers Hammer
Japanese style dogs-head hammer

... or anything else your imagination can conjure!
