This item is a square punch for blacksmithing.
This punch has been hand forged from EN19 steel, and heat treated appropriately for hot punching steel. The shank and striking end has been annealed (softened) for safety and to ensure the tool is long lasting. Even in its annealed form, EN19 is a very tough and durable steel and this tool will last a lifetime if respected.
There are four options of punches available:
- Round Punch (6mm diameter unless another size is requested)
- Square Punch (8mm square unless another size is requested)
- Rounded (ball nose) punch (approx 12mm diameter hemisphere)
- Centre Punch
The tool is approximately 180mm (7 inches) long so you can comfortably punch without your hands being to close to the workpiece.
